Southern Min, also known as Min Nan (闽南语; 閩南語), represents a group of Chinese languages spoken in various regions of China such as southern Fujian, eastern Guangdong, Hainan, southern Zhejiang, and Taiwan. These languages are also used by descendants of migrants from these regions living abroad.

Commonly, Southern Min specifically denotes Hokkien, notably Amoy and Taiwanese dialects which comprise variants of Quanzhou and Zhangzhou speech. Another member of the Southern Min family is Teochew, which exhibits limited mutual intelligibility with Amoy but shares similarities.

Hainanese and Puxian Min both have roots in Minnan; however, these dialects are generally considered not mutually intelligible phonologically with other Southern Min variants. Despite this, their grammar and vocabulary closely resemble those of Minnan due to shared origins.

Southern Min is part of the broader Min language group within the Chinese language family, which itself belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language group. It should be noted that Southern Min lacks mutual intelligibility with Eastern Min, Cantonese, or Mandarin. Similar to other Chinese varieties, there is an ongoing debate regarding whether Southern Min should be classified as a language or a dialect.
